I laughed so hard at some of these photos. Perhaps not what you’re expecting from the NYT, but comedy genius, all the same.
I always struggle with portion control when it comes to food I like. And even some food I don’t like. If it’s there, I’m apt to eat it.
But when it comes to the combination of tortilla chips and hummus, I’m nearly helpless. To stop before one of the is gone seems like that day’s biggest accomplishment.
Even (or perhaps especially) on 12-hour work days like today.

I don’t understand why anyone requests for embedding of their video to be disabled, but I love YYYs that I’m willing to forgive.
I have never seen them live, and I absolutely cannot wait for Shepherd’s Bush tickets to go on sale on Friday morning.

2nd TBLLT video in a week. Wowzers.

Love that there’s a ‘Times Topics’ page for Eurovision. Just a couple months off now, ya know.

One thing everyone has to realize is that being an underground leftfield artist used to pay the bills but in this age of the music industry, it is impossible. I’m not a kid anymore. I’m looking over the next few years to getting a house and having a family of my own. I need to pay the bills. It feels totally literating not to be beating down a record company door which another amazing...

I am four and a half weeks into this 100 pressups business (thanks to iPhone), and I’m starting to hit a wall. This morning was a total of 140 over 5 sets, and by the last one, I no longer felt I had control of my upper body. Maybe that’s wussy to admit, but it’s true. The prospect of 160 on Friday morning has me slightly in dread.
On the other hand, if you’d told me a...
On not missing academia
I saw a production of Othello at the weekend (not so great, it must be said) and recalled having read it in a Shakespeare seminar in grad school. So I thought I’d have a nose around to see if I’d written anything about it at the time. Turns out I hadn’t, or at least nothing I saved, but I’m having a bit of a laugh reading some of the various papers I have found. The final...

I know we’re not meant to like a listicle, but this one sure makes me want to put on some Marr-issey.

I’m always happy for anyone to take the smack down on George Will.
But for Nate Silver to do it with pictures is especially satisfying.

If there was backlash against the 25 Things article, I can’t imagine the mockery that’ll be made of this. Not least cos it’s written by Virginia Heffernan.

Can we just have a moratorium on women singers being called...

Experience: I fell in love in my 70s →
If only you could see the photo of this old lady that was in the Guardian’s Weekend magazine, you might feel slightly less cynical about today.
Or you might feel even more manipulated.
To the man at the other till in The Grocery that was buying sweets and condoms at 18.24 on Valentine’s: I’m not sure if you’re corny or showing off or what, but I do not have positive feelings about you.

Date Matt Pinfield →
perpetua:
I have no issue with Matt Pinfield, but I’m amazed that his established brand of being the “music expert” extends to his dating profile. (via hotdoorknobs)
Personally, I have loads of problems with Matt Pinfield. I was a devoted viewer of 120 Minutes back in the day, and then he showed up. Half the time, I’d switch the station when he was trying to impress his interviewee with...
